While Democrats are giddy about the record-breaking voter participation so far in the runoff particularly the soaring turnout from Black voters in Georgia Republicans also have reason to be optimistic.

(4,045 posts)It's the old rethuglican lie...we win more counties...because people who live in sparsely inhabited rural area somehow vote rethuglican (I know, hating the correct people is more important than voting for your own health and economic interests).

We're going to ignore the fact that the one county that Warnock won had more people than the other 9 combined.

(21,615 posts)Georgia has 159 counties. Even though, most of the rural areas are majority red, there are Democrats all over Georgia. In a statewide race, every vote counts equally.
It is so difficult to vote by absentee ballot now, because internet service and a printer are required, and many rural areas dont have high speed internet and many residents dont have internet service.
I think that fewer people are voting absentee than in the 2020-2021 elections, and, therefore, more people are voting in person now.
