House overwhelmingly passes bill to release Jeffrey Epstein files

(CNBC) The House on Tuesday voted nearly unanimously to order the Department of Justice to release all of its files on notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, two days after President Donald Trump abruptly dropped his opposition to the bipartisan bill. The bill, brought by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, will now head to the Senate.

Democrat Says More Jeffrey Epstein Emails Expected

(Newsweek) U.S. Representative Robert Garcia of California, top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told CNN's Kaitlan Collins Monday night that additional documents from Jeffrey Epstein's estate are expected to be released. Garcia confirmed during the interview that his committee has been working with the estate to obtain more materials beyond the 23,000 pages already made public, which contained President Donald Trump's name more than 1,600 times.

Trump DHS Plans Immigration Raids on Churches Over Holidays

(This Week In Worcester) Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25. Three U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) attorneys, including one assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the district of Massachusetts, one to the district of Rhode Island office, and the third posted at an office in New York told This Week in Worcester they received briefings on the plan.

U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman asks the NYPD to enforce state law against federal agents

(MS NOW) U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman has asked the New York Police Department to intervene when federal agents engage in unlawful conduct in the midst of heightening tensions over the U.S. government’s immigration crackdown. Goldman, a former prosecutor, made the request after ProPublica reported it had found 170 cases where ICE agents detained U.S. citizens. "The NYPD 'has an obligation to intervene and take appropriate action, including arrest, when federal immigration officers engage in conduct that is unlawful,' Goldman wrote Thursday in a letter to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch."

Democrats' bill would strip provision from funding bill that allowed senators to sue over phone records

(ABC News) Democratic Sens. Martin Heinrich and Mark Kelly will introduce legislation in the Senate on Tuesday that would strip out a provision in the just-passed government funding bill that allows senators to sue the government if their phone records are investigated without notifying them. The bill comes after Senate Republicans included within the massive government funding bill that ended the 43-day government shutdown a provision that would allow senators whose phone records were subpoenaed by Special Counsel Jack Smith as part of his investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to sue for $500,000 per accessed device.

Democratic proposed bill would put new restrictions on donations to Trump's ballroom

(ABC News) In response to ongoing concerns about the funding for the construction of a massive, multi-million dollar presidential ballroom at the White House, some Democratic lawmakers are set to introduce the first piece of legislation aimed at regulating the project. The new bill, set to be introduced Tuesday by Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren and House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia, would impose new limits on who can make donations to projects at the White House and would put new restrictions on donors and their funds after a donation is made.

GOP sends 'menacing texts' to voters ordering them to un-sign petition: report

(Raw Story) The Republican National Committee is reportedly sending "menacing texts" to voters in Missouri, ordering them to retract their signatures from a ballot petition to suspend Republicans' recently passed Congressional gerrymander that deletes a Democratic seat in Kansas City. Missouri is one of a handful of Republican-controlled states that redrew their maps in a demand from Trump. However, voting rights activists responded by gathering signatures for a ballot measure to repeal it.
