"SNIP........
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel told Fox News that the U.S. potentially defaulting on its debt bodes very well for the Republican field.

And people on SS or Medicare are going to have to go into what little savings they have to survive. Less small dollar donations for Democrats in 2024. Less power in the hands of the poor or retired. The GOP is at war with average Americans.

(26,260 posts)are among the best in the world, so our interest rates in borrowing are low. If defaulting, then this low rate goes to hell and government cost can go spiraling out of control.

(11,203 posts)Most donors to the RNC do not want a default (tho they probably encourage Republicans to fight for the wealthy and corporations by insisting on continuous deregulation, especially in tax laws, and environmental, labor, and tort reforms), who she listening to?

(26,195 posts)Too. A US default has implications that almost certainly are going to hurt passive income.

(21,288 posts)There are probably some autocrat-loving idiots who are convinced that whoever resides in the White House has a magic wand that can make anything happen or not happen. Also plenty of pigs that don't care and may even encourage whatever bullshit is needed to get more tax cuts, deregulation, and white privilege.

(7,927 posts)The Anarchist Doctrine:
Destroy the current system and something new and better will spontaneously grow from the ashes.
Inferring of course, that in the spontaneous rebirth, there is something to be gained by the Anarchists.
In this case, for the Republicans.
Reality tells us that destroying a system that was built up over many years by the efforts of many people doesn't just spontaneously regenerate.
And there is nothing of benefit for anyone in the process.
No Phoenix like rebirth from the ashes awaits a default.
But Republican Anarchists and Reality . . . tenuous connection at best.
