Re his pardon of convicted former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez.
Read the last sentence.
The man has no sense of irony.
"The post was part of a broader message by Mr. Trump backing Tito Asfura for Honduras' presidency, with Mr. Trump saying the U.S. would be supportive of the country if he wins. But if Asfura loses the election this Sunday, Trump posted that "the United States will not be throwing good money after bad, because a wrong Leader can only bring catastrophic results to a country, no matter which country it is."

Here is why Trump likes Asfura -
"Honduran politician Nasry "Tito" Asfura has faced multiple allegations of corruption, including embezzlement and money laundering, during his time as mayor of Tegucigalpa. He has consistently denied all wrongdoing.
Key points regarding the allegations:
Embezzlement and Money Laundering Charges: In 2020, the Specialized Prosecutor's Unit Against Corruption (UFERCO) filed a request for Asfura and another municipal employee to be tried for allegedly diverting over $1.2 million (28 million lempiras) in public funds for personal use between 2017 and 2018.
Case Stalling: The case was subsequently stalled after an appeal by the defense was granted by the Supreme Court, which cited procedural errors. All charges against him were eventually dismissed.
Pandora Papers Revelation: In October 2021, Asfura's name appeared in the Pandora Papers leak as the owner of a company registered in Panama. While owning an offshore company is not illegal in itself, public servants in Honduras are required to report their economic interests, and it was not clear if he had declared this company to the authorities.
Political Context: The allegations have been a significant factor in the turbulent Honduran political landscape, which has a history of widespread corruption issues. Asfura, a candidate for the National Party, has tried to distance himself from the party's tainted reputation, which includes the conviction of former President Juan Orlando Hernández on drug trafficking charges in the U.S..
Asfura, known for his public works projects as mayor, has maintained his innocence throughout these proceedings and investigations.

(12,326 posts)which is the guy has something on Trump or is politically useful. Surely the latter because he has not actually pardoned the guy, won't if he just owes favors, and is getting pretty impotent trying to power broke assholes around the world.

Or do they, and Trump is just so much more obvious about it?
