...and consider him a "leader"? He is a used car salesman. He is a con-man. He is a bloviating liar. He is a criminal. He deserves no respect because he gives no respect.
He floods the airwaves with his BS and fever dreams. Nobody holds him accountable, even when he lies to their faces. Next question please?
The question now is: Are we too far in to get out? Can we escape this trap the "leader" has put our country in without grave consequences? If you are one of those Americans that maintains faith in this charlatan, then you are part of the problem.

(8,995 posts)A leader listens to the people and works for the good of the nation.
A dictator is not interested in what the people think, and wants what's good for him.

(130,310 posts)When you buy that used car you at least have a car, even if it doesn't run as well as the salesman promised. Even the worst thing you can say about snake oil salesmen is that they're selling a product that doesn't do anything. But Trump's used cars explode and his snake oil contains arsenic.

(66,212 posts)It's a perfect storm of shit. It didn't help that 10s of millions of morons chose to sit out the last presidential election and "let it happen on purpose" either. If they hadn't done that, we likely wouldn't be in this mess.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

(3,751 posts)The answer is "We are very, very far in. And the deeper we get, the lower the likelihood we will get out."
My concern is the 2026 and 2028 elections. If Trump succeeds in his scheme to steal the election by stealing the vote in critical Democratic strongholds, and if the courts do not slap him down, then:
-- in 2026, he will retain a Republican majority in Congress.
-- in 2028, we may not even have an election.
Another fear of mine is that things get so bad that we Democrats -- or some/most/many of us -- grow tired of peaceful protests and out come the guns -- what will the military do? How about ICE -- Trump clearly is organizing ICE as his personal palace guard? National Guard? Local police?
At age 81 -- 28 years a soldier, Vietnam vet -- this is no bullshit: I purchased an AR-15 last year, with accessories, adding it to my firearms (shotguns, pistols, hunting rifles) -- just in case. And at 81, WTF will they do to me? Hell, I may live another 15 minutes or another 15 years.

Plain and simple.
Hang Them.
We're better off without their DNA "contaminating" our bloodline.
See how easy it is? Without all that "Woke" hemming-and-hawing... and "Justice"?

My father was very involved in the political scene and was even spied on by some government agency with his involvement in the United states backed Nicaraguan war, known as the Contra War during Ronald Reagan's administration. They were listening to his phone calls which I know firsthand because a guy called one night pretending to be my boyfriend. I was living at my Dad's house in Chicago and the boyfriend was in San Mateo, California. I knew it wasn't Steve, the boyfriend and so I asked him what his middle name was and he couldn't answer. This person must have been one of the best at voice imitation, he sounded just like him.
None of my siblings care much about politics
