Dear allies of America, please don't confuse our president with us -- Robert Reich

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/mar/19/donald-trump-american-ally

We are trying our best to resist him, contain him and remove him from office as quickly as we possibly can. Thank you for your patience

Donald Trump is alone.

That’s different from the United States being alone.

We – that is, the vast majority of Americans who were against Trump’s war from the start, and who support Nato and the United Nations charter and the post-second world war system of alliances and rules – are not alone.

Most of the people of the United States stand with most democracies of the world.

Usonian says: He is not alone. He is haunted day and night by a ghost he can't escape. And the world pays for it. He would destroy the world to cover his crimes.

We'll Meet Again!

We are trying our best?
Our best to date is not enough.
Anyone who supports him is pushing the world closer to annihilation.

...but we still haven't made up for the people who were too apathetic or lulled by the faux outrages against Dems and sat on their hands election day.

They're as culpable as the people who voted for him.

Dear America, please don't confuse our leaders with us.

Signed, the people of Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Viet Nam (and 50 other countries).

One needs the cognition to recognize when they are being led by demagogues to their own disadvantage.

Jim Jones, Donald Trump ... the list goes on.

Many people choose poorly.

The rest of America is sane. I come to DU to commiserate with normal folks, who just want to have a good life and live and let live.
