(preferably those on the poorer side)
To me it seems very likely that Trump and his billionaire/Heritage buddies are purposefully trying to cull the herd, and RFK Jr. is the blade of the proverbial scythe

(4,604 posts)... there's a quote out there somewhere of some Republican uttering that very idea: Culling the herd.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a disease for which there is only one remedy. FIRE HIS EVIL ASS!

(2,531 posts)thoroughly believe that Trump/Republicans action/in-actions during COVID resulted in the deaths of an ADDITIONAL 500,000 deaths in the U.S. and the statistics, (Per Capita), bear that out.......
The Republican's cuts in Health Care, Food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, as well as their Anti-vax mentality is aimed at culling our nation's population, much like Putin has done in Russia............

(15,548 posts)You know, "Survival of the Fittest". Good Genes.
Strong White Males smart enough to be rich, whether through winning the parents lottery, grifting, outright theft or murder, the hard work of networking, or finally - pure luck.
Because Good Luck obviously comes from having Good Genes while being White enough and Male enough.
And it's important to realize that if humans want to keep a healthy gene pool, there's a moral mandate to just let Nature take its course killing off all the degenerates with poor Genes through poverty, starvation, disease, and brutal assaults against them. Oh, and bad luck.
That's the current Eugenicist philosophy. Which has been eagerly adopted by the various Nationalist cults. I've heard that reasoning from supposedly same, moral people, presented as supposedly realistic "tough love" .
It's a wrapped variation on Lifeboat Ethics Theory. However, they're willing to avoid the occasional island and especially sink all other boats in their vicinity, even if it's a rescue boat with additional resources just to ensure they keep ownership of their own little lifeboat.
There is no cooperation, no curiosity, no diversity. It's imposed hierarchy or die.

(28,540 posts)On what basis do you fire health inspectors en masse.
I really think theyre trying to winnow the population.
Theyre certainly trying to kill the cruise industry.

BTW - Have you noticed how many news people are calling it "huntavirus"? Really? I even Googled it to see if there was another virus by that name. Nope.
The dumb just doesn't end.

(6,742 posts)of the implications of what krasnov has done and is doing to dismantle the U.S.
A guy who helps with maintenance at my house is a dedicated "Know Nothing" about politics. Willfully ignorant, although the rise in fuel prices has gotten his attention. I make a point of letting him know just a few of the things the regime has done that hurt average 'Muricans, just in case he ever gets motivated to inform himself and vote (I'm not optimistic).
He's going on a cruise soon. I will make sure he is aware of this story and its implications for him.

(39,064 posts)I thought Dutch-flagged MV Hondius was on a South Atlantic cruise, and the ship is stuck in the Azores while the virus burns through the passengers and crew.
Firing all the health inspectors is dumb AF but didn't have an impact on this event.

(29,680 posts)It's been all over Canadian news, they've devoted hours to it. It's called the Andes strain, and it's a rare subset of the virus that can be transmitted from human to human. It also has a particularly long gestation period and the symptoms can appear to be other things.
I don't know if sanitation of the ship would have mattered in this case, but I also think cruise ships should be thoroughly inspected. It's madness not to do that.

(27,494 posts)The last cruise I took was in September of 2019 and not long after we had the pandemic. I havent been on a plane since the 🍊🐖💩 resumed his reign of terror and messed up the safety of our aviation travel. I do not trust this government and reading that ghoulish rfk jr is firing knowledgeable scientists and doctors is scary as hell for our health.

(353 posts)What if a foreign adversary decided to unleash a deadly pathogen on all US ports of call? I makes sense for the government to check for bugs on ships out of desire to reduce harm and suffering due to natural non-lethal illnesses. It doesn't take a genius terrorist to make a bug for which there is no cure or vaccine and spread it on purpose. By the time our understaffed CDC could respond, it would be too late for the millions of casualties that would make the amount of Covid deaths seem small.

Maybe because they don't own their own private jets and yachts?
