Or does anyone else feel smitten by laziness on the part of posters here, failing to proof their posts for wrong words, missing words, and other sloppiness?
I.e., common courtesy!

(1,263 posts)I thought the op was just overwhelming attracted to those of us who fail at proof reading. 😉

(77,638 posts)And to compound matters, typos I've made get imbedded into the logic and it calls for words that are actual typos and replaces the correct word.
I'm thinking about shutting off autocorrect.

(19,983 posts)I tend to use proper grammar and spelling, unless I am posting from my phone....then, all bets are off.
I avoid having to do it from my phone because of this.
It's also why I edit so many of my posts, because I will miss a typo and end up having to go back and fix it.
But as long as I can understand what the poster was getting at, the autocorrect in my head works fine!

(5,027 posts)It seems that more and more posts are what I call "blank" posts, which consist of nothing but a link to some other site. This disturbs me, because so many of those links are to out-and-out evil sites like google (including googletube), meta, or x. Almost as bad are the links to unknown potentially spyware-laden sites.
The internet is home to Bond villains, thieves, and other bad actors these days.
I wish posters would take the trouble to write a sentence or a paragraph describing what the link is about, before we either
- monetize Musk, Zuckerberg, Brin or some other vampire oligarch
- expose ourselves to possible spyware bad actors.
It has something to do with informed consent, ya know.
Sometimes I feel generous and ascribe this to the proliferation of snark phones with their tiny screens, hard to type on. Other times I think it's a sign of advancing illiteracy .
If the poster can't take a minute to type a description or summary, I certainly can't waste my time watching/listening to ad-filled videos or clicking on iffy links. This "laziness" seems very rude to me. It's saying that MY time is not important compared to the poster's time.

(5,027 posts)vastly improve the dialog here. And would stop empowering bad actors like Musk.

Are you seriously so lazy you cant make the case why we should watch some random persons video? Usually its a video.
I skip most videos anyways.

(38,289 posts)Had an Anthropology professor explain it to me. Even though I was a psychology major, never heard about in those classes.
She explained to me that is the message is conveyed by the author to the reader the grammar is correct.
No one, not even me can read my handwriting. My mother was an English teacher and had me practice writing and spelling forever. Finally gave up.
For your and my sanity, just let go of it.
