What happened??
Today he announced that he could not vote Republican. Naturally the Trump Republicans will dismiss it. Trump may even post on Truth Social about it?
But, in my opinion, it is not a good sign that Tucker Carlson is deserting the movement. I cannot imagine that he would be alone. He had a lot of followers.
It cannot be good that he is leaving the Republican Party.
He's a snide little shit but he appealed to a certain IQ.
Could this be a bit of good news for the Democrats?

(4,805 posts)His leaving the GOP has no effect on the Democrats and has no effect on the Republicans. He's an artifact of the media

(79,461 posts)Tucker is, of course, an obnoxious shit. Always has been, always will be. However, he is reasonably intelligent, and still has appeal among a segment of the maga and neo-maga population. This includes a part of the right-wing that disliked the war on Iran and/or the MoU.
Recently, he has debated an Israeli journalist and a British journalist on the war. Because he spanks them with ease, they resort to the current -- and weak -- attempt to define him as an antisemite, which any serious person knows is utter nonsense. Rather, he is concerned first about the damage the war that Netanyahu got the felon to join in on has done to this country. Weak minds equate being opposed to Netanyahe as "antisemitism," which it is not.
Tucker says he has no plans to ever run for office. I don't think that is 100% true. If he doesn't run as a republican, it would require a third party, which seems unlikely. Hopefully, he and his ilk just not vote in 2028. Yet in the ongoing attempt to secure that future nomination, we see Rubio trying to undercut Vance. I would not be surprised to see Tucker eventually endorse Vance, and possibly join the ticket with him.

(381 posts)The winds have shifted, and the opportunity is now in opposing His Flatulency. That is why he and Empty G have turned. There will be others, but it is important to remember that they are still the same people they were the day before the flip.
This has no more significance than a WWE wrestler switching sides. Come to think of it, it appeals to the same audience.
