Donald Trumps Latest White House Renovation Plan Includes 200-Year-Old StructureOngoing rumors suggest that Donald Trump may have set sight on renovating the 200-year-old White House pillars. While the White House didn't provide a confirmation, it simply stated that it's undergoing basic repair work. This development comes a few days after the president seemed to be inspecting the pillars for six minutes after returning from Arlington National Cemetery.
White House columns to undergo renovation
The speculations about a potential pillar renovation started when workers were spotted working on them last week. Since then, many believe that the White House renovation plan may also include the iconic pillars. Rumors also suggest that Trump might alter the pillars' style, from Ionic to more ornate Corinthian. This idea was pitched earlier by Rodney Mims Cook Jr., Chairperson of the United States Commission of Fine Arts. The pillars seemed to be freshly painted when Trump went to the presidential retreat in Maryland.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Cook Jr. suggested the makeover of the White House's main entranceway. Revealing why he believes Corinthian would be a suitable choice, he added, "Corinthian is the highest order [of column], and that's what our other two branches of government have. Why the White House didn't originally use them, at least on the north front, which is considered the front door, is beyond me."

(1,321 posts)7. The Whitehouse was not meant to be a palace
on purpose. It's the people's house, not a king's castle. The less ornate columns were chosen for a reason. This idiot has no idea what this county stands for.
