The Department of Justice announced what could be "a million more documents" related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a Christmas Eve post on X, the DOJ said that the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI located the documents.
"[T[hey have uncovered over a million more documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein case," the department claimed. "The DOJ has received these documents from SDNY and the FBI to review them for release, in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, existing statutes, and judicial orders."
"We have lawyers working around the clock to review and make the legally required redactions to protect victims, and we will release the documents as soon as possible. Due to the mass volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks. The Department will continue to fully comply with federal law and President Trump's direction to release the files."

They DID post this thing about "over a million more documents" although I saw a Huff Post live updates story referencing an earlier-posted Axios article, about how the White House has "taken over" the DOJ X account, so there's that.

(8,755 posts)Like they just happend to "find" a million documents now? I'm not sure what's going to happen next, but I honestly believe it will NOT be good for Trump. They're not going to get away with an unending delay.
In reality, redacting the documents should be relatively easy (the pictures could take longer). They should be able to automate the process. There should be no need to go through every page of every document one by one by hand. They could have a computer program or AI review every single document to identify every single name contained in them. Then they already know the names of several hundred victims to redact. Beyond that, they should be able to to identify additional names to redact from the complete list of names. Up until now, there has been no indication that Epstein victimized any males so just based on that, no male names should be redacted.
