ICE involved in Maine shooting, official says

Source: Newsweek

A person was killed Monday in a shooting in Biddeford, Maine, involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel, according to Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau.

Fecteau, a Biddeford resident, said in a statement shared on Facebook that a shooting occurred in the city and that one person was killed. He said ICE was involved and that the Maine State Police and the Department of Public Safety were responding to gather additional details.

Authorities have not yet released additional information about the circumstances of the shooting, including the identity of the person killed, whether any officers discharged their weapons, or the nature of ICE’s involvement.

Daniel Boucher, 71, of Biddeford, said he heard what sounded like firecrackers outside his apartment at about 7:30 am. and ran upstairs to investigate. Federal agents had pulled a young man out of a vehicle as he claimed he was trying to stop. The man then appeared to die at the scene as officers performed CPR, Boucher recalled.

it keeps happening and people get more immune to it.

Sickening.

My big hope is that we somehow get Talarico elected in this backwards state this fall. I know they are going to cheat, that's been Paxton's MO his entire professional life (and personal too, as evidenced by him literally cheating on his wife) ... But if we can take a Senate seat in Texas, the gop is toast.

THEY are getting away with MURDER in our streets. Couldn't we INSIST on them at the very least be identified with a NUMBER on their clothing? THIS is outrageous.

"The Los Angeles Times obtained an internal review of US Border Patrol’s use-of-force policies, which US Customs and Border Protection has refused to release publicly (members of Congress have seen a summary). While the Times did not offer the report in full, the paper did publish previously unseen snippets that portray a law enforcement agency operating under loose use-of-force standards and little accountability."

"The review was completed in February 2013 by the Police Executive Research Forum, a nonprofit that develops best practices for law enforcement use-of-force policies. It examined sixty-seven use-of-force incidents by federal border agents near the US-Mexico border that resulted in nineteen deaths."

"Here are some key findings of the review, revealed by the Times Thursday:"

"Border Patrol agents have intentionally and unnecessarily stepped in front of moving cars to justify using deadly force against vehicle occupants."

"Agents have shot in frustration across the US-Mexico border at rock throwers when simply moving away was an option."

"Border Patrol demonstrates a 'lack of diligence, in investigating incidents in which US agents fire their weapons."

"It’s questionable whether Border Patrol 'consistently and thoroughly reviews' incidents in which agents use deadly force."
