Several months ago, when there was a minor earthquake, I saw a video of the adult elephants quickly forming a circle around the young elephants to protect them. So beautiful, so inspirational, I'll never forget it.

If only the cruel and vapid Republicans could learn something from their mascots.

10. I stopped even thinking of giving to the World Wildlife Fund after it started running a TV ad about a poor baby elephant

whose mother was killed by hunters. The ad implied the baby elephant would be all alone with no biologic mother, which is total bullshit. Elephants are a herd animal and when an elephant mother dies, the rest of the herd takes on the baby and protects it. I hate charities that lie to people to get contributions.
