Does anyone who hung around NYC in the 70's and 80's remember Rollarama? He was wonderful - full of life.

(3,306 posts)Back in the 80's, I worked at a car rental agency at the airport. The airport wanted to charge my employer for letting employees park on their lot while we were working. The airport shuttle busses didn't always run to schedule, so I bought some roller skates fitted for street skating, and some knee and wrist protectors, and began skating from the employee lot to work. I would always hear this song in my head, and skating in rhythm to it got me quickly to work. It was fun!

This was from the album that made Knopfler's brother quit the band. All checks on Mark's vision were lost after this album.
The roller girl was the daughter of some big shot politico from one of the African countries, but I forget which one.
