9. I think that...

Next time those are around, I might get one a do some serious macro investigation. They are pretty psychedelic, I can imagine some pretty spacey images.

But I wasn't even sure the market would be open, Light rain was predicted but it didn't show up! Also, I don't always feel like carrying around an extra lens!

11. I can relate...

To the extra lens. I had a Cannon AE1 (early model) and two lenses that I hauled all over a ten day working tour in England, man, what a lot of weight to walk around with. But then there's my sister, who fancies herself a professional hobby photographer, sells a few cards and calendars, inherited a full set of some German lenses and she hauls those all over the planet. Lots of glass and, she says, she gets in trouble over the weight sometimes but she usually gets away with it.

I could never do that. I have enough issue carrying around my older point/shoot with a serious zoom.

My choice is macro about 80% of the time, if I had to choose, I'd have that with me most of the time.

12. My preferred lens is what Andy used to call my "walking-around lens."

It's a Pro lens and very light and compact. It gives me great results! All the photos in my post were done with that lens.

I have a lot to learn about how to use the 60 mm macro lens!

Is definitely a workhorse and produces great pictures, wouldn't knock it. Macro is fun and once I got into it, became my favorite thing. It causes me to make use of my insane sense of detail.

take home one of those psychedelic cauliflowers and have a day with it, that would be a perfect subject to try a ton of things on.

No rush!

It just hit me that making a study of some highly textured and contoured would help you gain confidence in and embrace the macro. But it is a good idea. I'll have to get one and play around and maybe we could compare pics or something. I really should get back together with my camera, I haven't had the incentive or drive for some time.
