(4,314 posts)However, we still need to bring resolution to the torture aspect re: the yummy treats you keep teasing us with.
CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)I am sorry to torture you with the yummy treats! I'm not sure how to resolve this conundrum.
Oh, I know!
I'll stuff some into my monitor and then you'll have them!

(6,819 posts)Just look at those fabulous tomatoes! I hope you took some home.
The squash blossoms are lovely. They're a spicy summer treat.
Thanks for the tasty offering!
CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)And you are right! I bought one tomato; It's the tomato in the middle of the 3rd photo, the one with the faintly greenish stripes. It's the right size for us.
The squash blossoms always beg to have their photo taken! How can I refuse?
You're very welcome!

(98,346 posts)Those giant tomatoes look like the ones I just canned today! Close to 2lbs each!
CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)And good for you, canning tomatoes! Those are some big ones.
Won't they be tasty?
2naSalit
(98,346 posts)They were too big to do anything else with them! The ones small enough for sandwiches and salads are coming in now too, finally, a tomato sandwich! I've been waiting so long!
After this garden, I think I'll just freeze or dehydrate them!

(36,799 posts)I last went there with my wife something like 30 years ago when we lived in Redondo.
It was where I discovered blueberry pancakes that were not compote.

(36,799 posts)Many of these are connected with the early years of my marriage, when I was falling more deeply in love with my wife, although it didn't seem possible to love her more than I already did.
Before I met her, I lived for a time in Hermosa Beach. That was an unhappy time in my life, but life in Hermosa was some compensation, including being able to bike along the strand to Uncle Bill's.

(18,299 posts)Next time you're there, could you pick up some of those good-looking pastries and mail them to me?

CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)I get to 2 markets a week, and this one is the Big One!
I'm afraid that these pastries would not do well on such a trip! I'm sorry.

The photo of the squash blossoms is spectacular.

(155,476 posts)Most of these don't come home with me is how we decide! The quiche and the veggies are the things we generally consume.
The rest are to make me, and all of you, happy!

(38,845 posts)I am always tortured by the yummy looking pastries with the berries though!
CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)It's a remarkable market.
The pastries are very good. The berries on them help me think they have to be at least a little healthy!

(12,125 posts)I think my favorites are the yellow sunflower and the heirloom tomatoes. Did you by any chance choose one of those tomatoes to take home? If so, I want to know: did it have the taste of long ago?
CaliforniaPeggy
(155,476 posts)That sunflower really grabbed me! I was happy to get it.
As for the heirloom tomatoes, I did take one of them home. The third photo of the tomatoes shows the one I bought: it's in the middle of the photo and it has the faint green stripes.
I haven't eaten it yet, but I can tell you that the flavor in them is extraordinary. Very sweet and full of genuine
tomato flavor. Nothing like today's tomatoes!
I can't actually compare them to the tomatoes of yesteryear since I don't remember when I started eating the heirlooms. But they are great!

(12,125 posts)Haven't had a garden since my sweet hubby passed 8 yrs ago. If it's the last thing I do, I'm having a garden next yr. One of my sons and a neighbor gent will help with the man's work this fall getting them all ready for winter.
"Only two things in life that's worth while, and that's true love and home-grown tomatoes." Yum
