Southampton Village Elections Result in Partial Upset

A Village of Southampton trustee was ousted by a challenger in the only one of seven Hamptons village elections last week in which elected officials faced opposition on the ballot.

In the other half dozen South Fork village elections, unopposed incumbents easily sailed to re-election. Southampton Village voters also rejected by a margin of 63% a referendum on the ballot that would have doubled trustees’ terms from two to four years. Political newcomer Willa Bernstein unseated Trustee Leonard Zinnanti in the Southampton Village race.
