NC elections board investigating voter registration complaints

The state Board of Elections is investigating 30 complaints related to voter registration drives. Complainants say people are posing as government workers, going door to door and urging residents to register to vote.

Complaints about suspicious voter registration solicitations come with each election cycle, said Jason Tyson, a spokesman for the board.

Reports in recent months have come from Brunswick, Buncombe, Chowan, Haywood, Nash, Scotland and Wake counties, according to a news release.

Government officials do not conduct door-to-door registration drives.
