Cha-Ching! The Mets sign him to a 3 year, $126 million contract. Because maximizing the money is more important to him, apparently, than playing for a team with a reasonable chance of winning the World Series. (Cmon, its the Mets. We already know how thats gonna turn out!)

Because Bichette is known to be a below-average defender and the throw to first wasn't his strength at SS, let alone from third.

(3,275 posts)After signing Cabrera and Bregman, they don't have the money. Or rather the Ricketts are too cheap to spend more.
Belli is the only one left and he'll probably go back to the Yankees.

And dont forget Suarez. Too old to probably get a long contract, but the Yanks usually seem to prize guys with big bats over defenders.
