Researcher explains connection between ultra-processed foods and depression - PBS NewsHour
The food we eat affects us in many ways. A recent study from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School found a link between the consumption of ultra-processed foods and an increase in the risk of depression. Ali Rogin speaks with Olivia Okereke, an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School who worked on the study, to learn more.

(31,136 posts)1. I would be willing to bet the depression is more related to them not getting enough nutrients because
processed foods don't have many nutrients and probably many being overweight and not healthy in general, rather than some kind of chemicals from the processing as they seem to be suggesting.

It's an interesting theory, but more studies are necessary to prove it.
