Related: About this forumGalaxy Quest - (1999) for anyone that used to watch Captain Kirk /Star Trek
I watched this movie for the 1st time last year and I laughed so hard the movie had to be paused periodically.
I could not stop laughing! I was laughing so hard I could not hear the movie.
And no, I was not on anything.
If you know about the Star Trek series from way-back with Captain Kirk, and you have not seen Galaxy Quest, watch this movie without seeing a trailer. The trailer ruins the surprises.
My subsequent viewings were still funny, but not nothing compared to the first time.
I will always remember it.
Have you seen it?
It is a cult classic.

(8,537 posts)The transporter was sooooo funny! It was acted so well! Those actors were spot on!
Yep, really good ending. The whole movie is so good.
Kirk fighting and just happens to have his shirt torn off.
But of course there needed to be one of those scenes!

(28,904 posts)Total parody of Star Trek, and funny as hell. I especially enjoyed Alan Rickman. He was a great actor in so many movies.
If you liked Galaxy Quest, you may want to check out, Buckaroo Bonzai, another favorite. Its hilarious, especially John Lithgow.

I will look for it.
Yes, GQ is one of the best parodies I have seen.

Dodsworth, The Godfather, A Place in The Sun, and GALAXY QUEST.

(8,537 posts)But viewers would need to fully understand the old Star Trek, that is what makes it so funny.
Well, the actors and the story line is done so well!

It was so tacky!

(63,992 posts)one of the other STNG headliners called another to pass the word along to go see it, it was so funny.
My kids still look up at the ceiling when I ask them to look for their shoes.
It really is a feel good movie!

I may have to watch it tonight to get my mood rebalanced after today's shooting.

Yes, a good movie to watch to clear oneself.

(60 posts)Wonderful movie. There are so many lines from it that we've adopted into our daily banter.
Have watched it so many times now, never gets old!

(4,228 posts)I loved Sigourney Weaver as a blonde. Poor Sam Rockwell was a red shirt, expecting to always get killed in the first scene.

(1,146 posts)Sigourney Weaver's character nailed Lt. Uhura role in Star Trek when she said:
"Look, I have one job on this lou'ssy ship. It's stupid, but I'm gonna do it, OK?"
