For type II diabetes, in my experience ( I am border line) best thing which works is reduce hours during which calorie are consumed.
If you limit it to 6 hours it will be most beneficial. 8 hours is very good.
Once A1C drops to normal levels, can expand to 10 hours, and stabilized at 12 hours.

Every morning on rising. Intermittent fasting, reducing hours of eating to 8-10 dropped my fasting glucose from 120-128 to 101. Thank God.

I already don’t eat sugar or drink soda.

When I added 30 minutes gym activity 5 times every week,
I am able to extend eating hours and not get my sugar levels out of range.
I do 20 minutes brisk walk on treadmill with wrist weights and 10 minutes of weight lifting (30lbs of less).

At age 82, I have gained new muscles around chest! Unbelievable.
