Good luck. My late mother was Type 1 back in the days of no self monitoring of blood sugar and reusable syringes you had to clean with boing water.

We’ve come a long way.

had a small chem lab to detrmine his blood sugar. moms grand dad. ( my g, g grandad ) refused to take insulin, did everything by weight and exercise .

On edit: There are some supplements I take to help control pre-diabetes: Ceylon Cinnamon & Jerusalem Artichoke (the latter is really cheap on Amazon, or was last I ordered it - around $6).
